Comprehensive Support for Victims of Human Rights Violations in Zimbabwe
Human rights violations do not end when an arrest is made, when violence occurs, or when a family member disappears. For many survivors, the greatest challenges begin afterwards—coping with trauma, seeking justice, rebuilding livelihoods, and navigating complex legal and administrative systems. Solidarity Network's Victim Support and Safety Nets Programme provides comprehensive support for victims of human rights violations in Zimbabwe and across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
Through facilitating legal aid, psychosocial support, reparations advocacy, livelihood assistance, and referral services, we help survivors recover, rebuild, and pursue justice.We believe that every victim of human rights abuse deserves access to justice, protection, rehabilitation, and meaningful support. Our survivor-centred approach ensures that affected individuals and communities receive practical assistance tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.
Why Victim Support Is Essential
Victims of torture, arbitrary arrest, political violence, enforced disappearances, unlawful detention, discrimination, and other human rights violations often face long-term consequences that extend far beyond the initial incident.
Many survivors experience:
- Psychological trauma and emotional distress
- Loss of income and economic insecurity
- Barriers to legal representation and access to justice
- Difficulty accessing reparations and compensation
- Social exclusion and community stigma
- Ongoing security and protection concerns
Without adequate support, these challenges can undermine recovery, limit opportunities, and perpetuate cycles of vulnerability.
